Job Description
As a Mechanical Engineer at Vention…
You will lead the design, development, and deployment of mechanical components and assemblies throughout their lifecycle. You will collaborate cross-functionally to meet stakeholder needs and support colleagues while contributing to the improvement of team workflows and processes. With the expansion of physical Artificial Intelligence, Vention's mechanical team plays a vital role in developing the hardware necessary to operationalize AI solutions.
What You’ll Do
Project Execution: Collaborate with program managers on projects involving structural, actuator, and pneumatic components. Support the product roadmap across all development phases, from scoping and design to validation and launch.
Scope Definition: Collaborate with managers to translate product requirements into measurable specifications.
Risk Assessment & Management: Conduct DFMEA (Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) at all project stages to mitigate risks related to performance, safety, and operational complexity.
Design & Prototyping: Manage conceptual and validation prototyping iterations until specifications are met. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to design mechanical and electro-mechanical systems, selecting components like actuators and pneumatics to satisfy product requirements.
Testing: Execute test plans covering assembly, compliance, DFMEA risks, and life testing to validate prototypes for production.
Documentation Development: Creating technical assets like Engineering Assembly Requirements, public specifications, and user guides during the later stages of a project to facilitate production transfer.
Cross-Functional Support: Collaborating with purchasing, quality, and production departments to support the launch and ongoing maintenance of products.
Public Integration & Training: Manage the website integration lifecycle by providing product specifications, renders, and technical drawings for the part library. Lead internal training sessions and technical presentations to disseminate knowledge across the mechanical hardware team and the wider organization.
Continuous improvement: Drive continuous improvement by evolving internal standards, processes, and templates. Provide ongoing technical support for established products through detailed documentation and troubleshooting, occasionally assisting with complex customer support inquiries.
Host trainings and info sessions: Host and participate in critical project milestones, including syncs and design reviews (PDR, CDR, FDR). Execute Engineering Change Management (ECM) workflows for existing products to address quality, manufacturing, or assembly enhancements.
Collaboration & Mentorship: Partner with cross-functional departments—including software, electrical hardware, and operations—to ensure seamless product ecosystem integration. Provide professional guidance and mentorship to junior colleagues to foster technical growth within the team.
