We are seeking a skilled and experienced Manager of Physical Security and Safety to join our Global Workplace team. This global role is responsible for establishing and overseeing all aspects of physical security across company workplaces worldwide, requiring international travel. Key duties include managing security personnel, designing and maintaining global access control (e.g., Openpath) and camera surveillance systems with established standards for public and private areas, and developing comprehensive executive protection and employee travel safety programs including a helpline and travel advisories. The position also entails creating and implementing global Emergency Action Plans, standardizing safety equipment (Cintas, AED, fire extinguishers), coordinating event security, managing critical security communications, and establishing employee security training. Furthermore, this role is crucial for investigating potential threats, collaborating with workplace operations on visitor management (Envoy) and new market security. This position will also be responsible for managing the overall global security and safety budget, including evaluating and implementing new security technologies. This individual is responsible for safeguarding all company workplaces, assets, and employees worldwide.

This role is hybrid, based out of Santa Clara, CA.

Responsibilities:

Security Infrastructure & Systems Management

  • Design and oversee access control systems across all global offices, establishing standards for public versus private layering.
  • Gather and analyze badge data utilizing the Openpath access control platform.
  • Plan and supervise camera placement and monitoring in all global offices, defining clear standards
  • Propose and manage the implementation of new software and security programs.

Programs & Policy Development

  • Oversee and manage an executive protection program for high-level company executives.
  • Direct and manage an employee travel safety program, including maintaining a helpline, monitoring global events, and issuing travel advisories.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain Emergency Action Plans for all global offices, collaborating with local employees on execution.
  • Establish and uphold standards for Cintas, AED, and fire extinguisher management and placement across all global offices.
  • Familiarize with relevant local, national, and international security laws, regulations, and industry standards.

Operational Management & Oversight

  • Manage the physical security of our workplaces, including staffing security personnel as needed
  • Orchestrate event security for both internal and external functions
  • Conduct investigations and provide intelligence on potential threats
  • Partner with the workplace operations team to establish and oversee the Envoy visitor management system
  • Engage with the internal strategy team on security and safety considerations in new markets

Communication & Budget Management

  • Manage communications regarding physical security, planned power outages, local market advisories, and company-wide security alerts
  • Create a budget for all security and safety related operations and manage budget accordingly

Experience & Qualifications:

  • Experience: 7+ years of physical security and safety management, ideally within a tech or fast-paced startup environment. Deep knowledge and hands-on experience in designing, implementing, and managing complex physical security systems (access control platforms like Openpath, CCTV/surveillance, alarm systems, intrusion detection).Strong understanding of physical security principles, risk assessments, threat analysis, and mitigation strategies.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
  • Tech-Savvy: High proficiency in office software and security technologies (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, Slack, Openpath, Aviglion, etc.)
  • Project Management: Strong project management skills, particularly for security system rollouts and office build-outs
  • Crisis Management: Proven ability to lead and manage security incidents, breaches, and emergencies.Strong investigative skills to gather intelligence and provide actionable insights on potential threats.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage and lead teams across multiple timezones and regions
  • Problem Solving: Strong ability to anticipate challenges, find solutions, and execute under pressure.
  • Strategic Thinking: Experience in developing and implementing comprehensive security programs and proven ability to create and standardize policies and procedures across diverse global locations. Knowledge of international security regulations and best practices.
  • Leadership: Proven experience in leading, managing, and developing security personnel (including in-house and contract staff). Demonstrated ability to build and manage high-performing security teams globally.
  • Financial Acumen: Experience with budget creation, management, and financial oversight
  • Adaptability: Comfortable working in a fast-paced, ever-evolving environment and open-concept workspace.

Compensation for all engineers at Tenstorrent ranges from $100k - $500k including base and variable compensation targets. Experience, skills, education, background and location all impact the actual offer made.
