The Role
Island is seeking a proven Account Executive to drive growth with the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Space Force. This role is responsible for owning and expanding relationships across program offices, CIO organizations, and mission partners, positioning Island as a critical enabler of cloud adoption, secure collaboration, and enterprise IT modernization.
You will serve as the trusted advisor to senior defense IT leaders, program managers, and system integrators driving pipeline, shaping opportunities, and closing deals that directly support USAF and USSF missions.
What You’ll Do
- Develop and execute a strategic account plan across USAF and USSF, aligned to CIO priorities such as enterprise IT modernization, Zero Trust, cloud migration, JADC2, and workforce enablement.
- Hunt for new opportunities by engaging CIO shops, program offices, and defense system integrators.
- Build and manage a robust pipeline through direct engagement, defense industry partnerships, and capture efforts.
- Run full federal sales cycles from opportunity identification and shaping through proposal, negotiation, and award.
- Expand wins into enterprise-wide adoption across multiple commands and mission units.
- Collaborate closely with Sales Engineering, Capture, and Marketing to deliver mission-aligned demonstrations, white papers, and proposals.
- Provide accurate forecasting and pipeline visibility in Salesforce.
What You Have
- 4+ years in software, cybersecurity, or SaaS sales, with at least 2+ years focused on DoD.
- Proven record of exceeding quota by selling into the U.S. Air Force, U.S. Space Force.
- Deep understanding of federal acquisition processes (FAR, DFARS, OTAs) and compliance frameworks (FedRAMP, IL5/IL6, CMMC).
- Strong relationships or experience engaging with CIO shops, MAJCOMs, PEOs, SSC, AFMC, or related mission organizations.
- Map solutions to mission outcomes, particularly around IT modernization and digital transformation priorities.
- Experience with Salesforce and modern federal sales tools.
- Mission-focused - resourceful, creative, able to navigate complex defense sales cycles.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
